Finding Resources for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Adjusting to vision loss can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. Many resources are available to help individuals who are blind or visually impaired live full and independent lives.

Where to Find Help

State and Local Services – Utah has several programs for the blind, including the Utah Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI). They offer training, support, and tools to help with daily life.

Assistive Technology – Devices like screen readers, magnifiers, and voice-activated assistants (such as Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant) can make life easier. OAB can help members learn about these tools and how to use them.

Education & Training – Whether it’s learning Braille, using a white cane, or improving computer skills, there are many classes and programs available. OAB offers instructional classes to help our members stay independent.

Support Groups & Community Help – Connecting with others who understand vision loss is important. OAB provides a welcoming community where members can share experiences, ask questions, and support one another.
